SLA President's Message - July 2010
The Fourth of July is here and many of us are on our annual summer breaks from work to enjoy family and friends at our favorite vacation spot in the mountains, on the lake or at the beach. Please seize the opportunity to thank a soldier and a veteran in celebration of the birth of our nation. The Regional PLRB Eastern conference came to Atlanta this year and I sure enjoyed spending time with both many old friends from out of state and many of our local members at the hospitality events on Tuesday night. It seems that there is an abundance of activity in the local insurance community. Many members are changing places of employment, others are departing to employ-ment outside of the insurance industry and there were many new faces. This was an excellent opportunity to invite new people to our July luncheon.
The Board Members of the association are working diligently on several of activities to benefit the general membership. The Internet Exploratory Committee is busy working on placing all of our event registrations on-line where members will be able to register and pay for events via Pay-Pal on line in the near future. We hope to get this up and running by the end of the year 2010. The Education Committee is on the eve of what I expect to be an excellent day of Continuing Education in August. The Golf & Tennis Committee is just getting started on our plans for the Golf & Tennis outing in October.
I want to thank Thomas Mierzwa, P.E. at LWG Consulting, Inc. for flying in at the last minute from Massachusetts to speak on the topic of Seasonal Weather Damage. We all enjoyed the extended question and answer session regarding structural damage as a result of flooding, hurricanes, hail, wind, lightning and snow. Our thanks also go to LWG also for sponsoring the June luncheon.
This month we continue our open registration for the August CE class. Please be sure to return your paid registration quickly so you don't miss out on this event. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
